Well said view of one Obamacare impact! “As my colleague David Boaz observed, Obamacare is “another example of a big-government, left-liberal policy that is pushing people away from cooperation and community and toward atomistic individualism.” — http://www.cato.org/blog/obamacares-war-civil-society-it-big-government-or-nothing?utm_content=buffer33bcf&utm_source=buffer&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Buffer

Will 2014 be the year when WE have had enough – “If you’re in the business of making New Year’s resolutions, why not resolve that 2014 will be the year we break the cycle of tyranny and get back on the road to freedom. As I’ve said before, it’s time for a second American revolution.” — http://ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/featured-articles/2013/december/31/life-in-the-emerging-american-police-state-what’s-in-store-for-our-freedoms-in-2014.aspx

New York City now has the communist leader it deserves! — http://www.trevorloudon.com/2014/01/new-york-gets-the-communist-leader-it-deserves/

“We approach the end of one of the final years of the ideology that has dominated America for several generations.  It doesn’t work, not over the long run.  In a nation of this size and wealth, its failure is likely to be swift and spectacular.  The promise of government-engineered prosperity was never sustainable.  We’re running low on the freedom that must be sacrificed to feed the State.  There will never be a government that can provide the full nourishment of healthy purpose to three hundred million people… but with their economic liberty fully restored, they can give it to each other.   Our children will wonder why we waited so long to try that.” — http://www.redstate.com/2013/12/27/freedom-is-the-only-sustainable-promise/

Cutting military pensions is causing a political backlash! — http://thehill.com/blogs/defcon-hill/army/194207-lawmakers-vow-to-reverse-military-pension-cuts

The Ohio Supreme Court has upheld Gov Kasich’s Medicaid Expansion power grab. They did so because the statement of the legislature stating its direct objection was removed by a line item veto power. Since the objection was removed by the governor the controlling board was not required to obey it. This is a travesty of common sense in governance that the Gov will regret. As a result my friend Ted Stevenot has decided to run against Gov Kasich for Governor of Ohio. – Bold Move — http://mediatrackers.org/ohio/2013/12/20/ohio-supreme-court-leaves-kasichs-obamacare-power-grab-unchecked

Interesting article- the elimination of the incandescent light bulb was orchestrated by industry – not environmentalists! Interesting us of government power if this is true! — http://washingtonexaminer.com/industry-not-environmentalists-killed-traditional-bulbs/article/2541430

” In fact, privilege always accompanies power.  The more compulsive power government exerts over society, the higher the aristocracy floats above the rules” — http://www.redstate.com/2013/12/26/power-means-privilege/

Any reference to Hitler is dangerous but this lady was there! – “From her eyewitness perspective, Worthman said that the whole thing didn’t happen overnight, in a brutal attack, like the media portrays it, but rather, it evolved into a dictatorship gradually, over a period of a few years.  Hitler didn’t come across as someone evil, to be feared, initially.  ”In the beginning, Hitler didn’t look like, or talk like a monster at all. He talked like an American politician.”  Here are some things that occurred in Austria, according to Worthman, that just might look familiar to Americans:

The ballot in 2014 could get really interesting! Gay marriage, Workplace Freedom, a primary challenge to Gov Kasich by a friend of mine, a primary battle within the Democratic Party, etc — http://citybeat.com/cincinnati/blog-5383-morning_news_and_stuff.html

Ted Stevenot is pushing a primary challenge to Gov Kasich. If successful, this will be the first challenge to a sitting governor since 1970. He needs 1000 signatures and he will easily get that done. — http://www.politico.com/story/2014/01/john-kasich-ohio-primary-challenge-101678.html

Amen!! –

Please, Congress, Do Much Less

Unpack the assumption behind the stories about congressional productivity, and you find a bias toward statism: the notion that government action is inherently good, and that more government action is inherently better. — http://reason.com/archives/2014/01/01/please-congress-do-much-less

So true – “The Republican Party’s right wing has proven its willing to lose jobs at the district level and take national security risks to rein in big government. In the eyes of that faction, the Pentagon, despite lobbyists’ best efforts, is part of the problem.” — http://www.nationaljournal.com/magazine/how-the-defense-lobby-became-irrelevant-20140101

Watching NYC will become a sport for some capitalists as the progressives undo the economic and law enforcement progress of the last 20 years – “De Blasio’s ascension is already being touted as a victory for income-inequality politics; now his administration will be the nation’s leading laboratory for progressive economic policy ideas, such as jacking up taxes on the rich, expanding paid sick leave, universalizing public pre-K education, and giving a hearty middle finger to the politics of austerity. If all that sounds vaguely familiar, it’s because the same song was being sung (and greeted with the same hallelujah choruses from the same lefty pundits) when French Socialist Francois Hollande swept into power in May 2012.” — http://reason.com/blog/2014/01/02/so-how-is-frances-de-blasio-doing-anyway

Freedom for low wage workers – “Licensing is one way that freedom is limited on behalf of special interests. The licensing regime is overseen by the current practitioners, giving them the power to limit the number of their competitors. This is a double whammy. It locks people out of occupations, and it raises prices to consumers.” — http://reason.com/archives/2014/01/02/lets-make-2014-the-year-of-freedom-for-l
